SOLAR PUMPING CONTROLLER (maximum power point tracking)

Contact Sales

This innovative maximum power point tracking, high efficienty MAXI-PUMP pump controller has all the discerning user could want with room to expand and upgrade his system later. Configured for driving a surface brush motor pump but also has a special output to drive a brushless motor (EMP) for even higher efficiency.

What is "MPPT"? Solar panels all have an optimum output voltage at which they can supply maximum power. The MaxiPUMP continously calculates the power coming from the panels and adjusts the load/output to maintain maximum power transfer. This is a vast improvement over simply running panels directly into a pump or through a standard regulator. Improvement can be as high as 30% in efficiency.

INNOVATION. The usual approach taken by other manufacturers is to have a 'step down' converter using a technology called a 'buk' converter which involves a choke and semiconductor switching. One problem with this is the loss associated with this choke. This therefore means that there are 2 sets of losses...in the Buk converter and in the motor driving the pump.Motronic has come up with a novel means of avoiding the separate choke, by using the motor itself as a choke.. Drive to the motor is adjusted by sensing the power delivered by the Panels, and this has the same effect of a normal Buk converter choke, yet with lower losses and greater efficiency.
